Our Commitment to Accessibility

NFC Print Studio is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity. We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner, and will do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

We are committed to ensuring that our website and services are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to meet or exceed the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), as well as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

AODA Compliance

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) is a provincial law that sets out a process for developing and enforcing accessibility standards. As a business operating in Ontario, NFC Print Studio complies with the following AODA standards:

  • Customer Service Standard — We are committed to providing accessible customer service to people with disabilities. This includes communicating with people in ways that take into account their disability, allowing assistive devices, welcoming service animals and support persons, and providing notice of temporary disruptions.
  • Information and Communications Standard — We make our website accessible and provide information in accessible formats upon request. We also provide accessible feedback processes.
  • Employment Standard — We notify job applicants and employees about the availability of accommodations, provide accessible formats and communication supports, and have documented individual accommodation plans.

WCAG 2.1 Conformance

Our website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines are organized around four principles:

  • Perceivable — Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive. This includes providing text alternatives for non-text content, captions for multimedia, adaptable content, and distinguishable content with sufficient color contrast.
  • Operable— User interface components and navigation must be operable. This means all functionality is available from a keyboard, users have enough time to read and use content, content doesn't cause seizures, and users can navigate and find content easily.
  • Understandable — Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable. Content is readable and predictable, and users are helped to avoid and correct mistakes.
  • Robust — Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following features to improve accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy (h1 through h6)
  • Descriptive alt text for all meaningful images
  • ARIA labels and roles for interactive components and dynamic content
  • Skip navigation links to bypass repetitive content
  • Keyboard navigation support across all major pages
  • Visible focus indicators for interactive elements
  • Sufficient colour contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200%
  • Clear and consistent navigation throughout the site
  • Form labels and error messages that are properly associated with form fields
  • No content that flashes more than three times per second
  • Language attribute set on the HTML element

Accessible Customer Service

NFC Print Studio is committed to providing excellent customer service that is accessible to everyone:

  • Communication — We communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability. We will ask how we can best communicate with you.
  • Assistive Devices — We welcome people who use assistive devices on our premises and when interacting with our digital services.
  • Service Animals — We welcome people accompanied by a service animal in areas of our premises open to the public.
  • Support Persons — A person with a disability accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them on our premises.
  • Notice of Temporary Disruptions — In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to our accessible facilities or services, we will notify customers promptly.

Alternative Formats

Upon request, NFC Print Studio will provide, or arrange for the provision of, accessible formats and communication supports for persons with disabilities in a timely manner that takes into account the person's accessibility needs. This includes:

  • Large print documents
  • Electronic documents in accessible formats (HTML, accessible PDF)
  • Verbal explanations of written materials
  • Captioned videos upon request
  • Sign language interpretation (with advance notice)

We will consult with you to determine the most suitable accessible format or communication support. Alternative formats will be provided at no additional cost.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of our website may have limitations:

  • Design Studio — Our custom card editor uses a canvas-based interface that may have limited screen-reader support. We are actively working on improving this experience including keyboard shortcuts and screen reader announcements. If you need assistance designing your card, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
  • Third-party Content — Some embedded content or third-party integrations (e.g., payment processing, maps) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We work with our partners to improve accessibility where possible and choose vendors who share our commitment to accessibility.
  • PDF Documents — Some older downloadable documents may not be fully accessible. Contact us for alternative formats and we will provide them within 15 business days or agree upon a suitable timeline.
  • User-generated Content — Content uploaded by users (such as images) may not have appropriate alt text. We encourage users to add descriptive alt text to their uploads.

Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack)
  • Speech recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control)
  • Screen magnification tools (ZoomText, Windows Magnifier)
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Switch device navigation
  • High contrast mode and custom colour schemes
  • Modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) in their recent versions
